Two places, one standard of care
We work in Portland, Maine and in Chad. The needs differ; the way we meet them does not. Someone sits with a family, learns what is actually in the way, and stays until it is dealt with.
MISSION
To create a positive and lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable communities around the world, in the belief that every person deserves access to basic necessities, education, healthcare, and opportunities for a better future.
VISION
A community where language, income, age, or immigration status decide nothing about the care a person receives, and where girls in Chad finish school on their own terms.
HOW WE WORK
Staff and volunteers who share the languages and histories of the people they serve. Nothing is designed at a distance; every program began as a request from a family we already knew.
Who we serve
- Immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers
- Families in transition housing or unstable living conditions
- People living with HIV, Long-COVID, and chronic illness
- Adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Elderly individuals with disabilities
- Victims of gun violence, crime, and domestic abuse
- Girls and indigenous communities in Chad, and street children
How we got here
2023
Founded in Maine to close the gap between newly arrived families and the healthcare, benefits, and interpretation they were entitled to.
2023
Transportation begins as an informal ride roster and quickly becomes the program everything else depends on.
2024
Work extends to Chad — education access, an end to early child marriage, and rehabilitation for street children.
Today
Five programs, two countries, and roughly 500 people served. Milestone details to be supplied.
